This week we saw Donald Trump doing what he does best – interfering in things that don’t concern him. We hear that after a phone call between Donald Trump and the FIFA President Gianni Infantino, the red card ruling against Folarin Balogun was overturned.
In short, during the match in the FIFA World Cup 2026 between USA and Bosnia-Herzegovina (in which the USA won 2-0), the VAR called the referee to a serious tackle Balogun made against BH player and was subsequently issued a red card and sent off the pitch.

Why did Trump get involved? Was it because Balogun was the USA’s top scorer? Should politics play a role in sports?
The overturn didn’t make too much of a difference – USA still lost to Belgium 4-1 (insert LOL emoji here).
